Marriage Announcement of

Miss Lottie Lorel Appleby

and

Colonel Sidney Johnston Nix

Jefferson, Georgia,  14 September 1907:

The marriage of Miss Lottie Lorel Appleby and Colonel Sidney Johston Nix, which took place at the Baptist church Wednesday afternoon at 4 o'clock, was one of the prettiest of the season.  Miss Inez-McDaniel, of Conyers, was maid of honor, and Dr. Edward McDonald, of Commerce, best man.  The bridesmaids were:  Misses Ebbie and Meda Appleby, sisters of the bride.  The groomsmen were Messrs. Hoyt Archer, of Athens, and Clifford Story.  The ushers were Messrs. Sam Roberts and Hal. Moore.

Little Misses Evelyn McElhannon and Bess Gunnells were flower girls: then came the little cushion and ring bearers, Manita Bullock and Miriam Bennett. Mrs. T. W. Webb and Mr McCabe sang, "Be True", after which Miss Sue Thurmont, of Commerce, played Mendelssohn's wedding march as the bridal party entered.

The ceremony was said by Rev. Joseph J. Bennett, of Atlanta.  The bridal party went from the church to the home of the bride, and they left on the afternoon train for an extended trip north.  After being away for a month, they will be at home to their many friends at the residence of Mr. A. H. Brock.

The bride is the eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. A.C. Appleby, and is a graduate of Bessie Tift.  Her popularity was attested by several tables covered with silver, cut glass and other costly presents.  The groom is esteemed by all who know him and is a graduate of the University of Georgia and is the clerk of the Superior Court.
