Notes: Research: Thomas (1850-1923) is said to have had two brothers, Jim and George. George may have been called Sarge, but this could have come from some records that could not be clearly read. Thomas (1850-1923),is thought to have been about seven years old when his parents, (James and Mary (Evans) Appleby, arrived in America. This would have been about 1857. The brothers said to have mined in Virginia City, Nevada and in Colorado and California. Finally settled in Douglas County, Nebraska. This info from descendants. Phone conversation with Harold Appleby in 1978. He gave only brief information, referring researcher to Herman Appleby. Harold said his parents’ names were William Appleby and Margaret Allen. William died at age 90 in 1970. Harold Appleby named his grandparents as Thomas and Cora BOOTH. Other family members said Cora had been adopted several times and had different first and last names. They gave her name as Annabel WOOD.
