States Air Force, before retiring as a Master-Sergeant.    He was 

stationed in Japan for a period of time.  He served in World War II 

and the Korea War.  Jim  was stationed for three years at Otis Air 

Force Base on Cape Cod, Massachusetts, before shipping out to 

Japan.  The son of Albert Edger and Leona (Debolt) Appleby, he was 

born 27 September 1921. His death occurred on 30 April 2002 in 

Sacramento, California.
